‘It’s a danger:’ Residents at SE Houston apartment complex on edge after 3 women sexually assaulted while doing laundry

HOUSTON – At least three women have been sexually assaulted while trying to do laundry at their southeast Houston apartment complex.

That’s according to the Houston Police Department who released a sketch of the man they say pretends to also be washing clothes until the women are alone. Then, he attacks.

KPRC 2′s Deven Clarke spoke to several women who live at the Willow Creek Apartments on Office City Drive. None of them wanted to be identified, but they all said they are in serious fear for their safety, mainly because police still don’t know who the man is, where he is, or if he will strike again.

Police say the man, who uses a bicycle to get around, sexually assaulted women washing clothes in the laundry room.

One woman, who says she lives alone and has a baby, was shocked to learn that Houston Police say on at least three occasions between December 12 and January 13, the man pedaled up to the laundry room and waited for the unsuspecting women to be alone before attacking.

While police say all the victims in the case were eventually able to fend the man off, one woman said her unit is right near the laundry room and now, when she leaves to go to work at 5 a.m., she’s going to be more vigilant.

With the alleged perpetrator still on the loose, her concerns are amplified not only for women, but also children in the area as the complex sits right across the street from Crespo Elementary School.

“It’s a danger to the community,” she said.

While police haven’t given much of a description in terms of weight and height of the suspect, they’re hoping anyone who thinks they may know who he is to come forward and call police immediately.
