Funeral held for Harris County deputy following Midtown crash

HOUSTON – A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s funeral is taking place on Saturday after he died in a crash in Midtown.
The visitation for 62-year-old Rondald Bates happened at 10 a.m.
His funeral service is being held at 11 a.m. at Fallbrook Church at 12512 Walters Road.
“Join us as we pay our respects and mourn the passing of Deputy Rondald Bates,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
Bates was off-duty when he got into a single-vehicle crash a week ago after finishing his shift.
He was a member of the sheriff’s office for more than 30 years. Gonzalez said he was loved by many.
