Authorities searched the area for the suspect. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said they assisted the sheriff’s office with the search.

At 6:39 p.m., the constable’s office said a suspect was taken into custody with the help of a constable K9 officer. He was located in the 12600 block of Summer Mill Drive.

However, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office shared more details after the shooting and said they are not sure whether the person who was taken into custody was the shooter or a witness.

Sgt. Sidney Miller with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit said the victim was shot multiple times after he and a friend came to the apartment complex.

“At this point, what we believe is that the victim does not live here and that he may have come here with another friend, we do know at some point that victim and the friend were confronted by we now believe were three Hispanic males, doing some kind of transaction, don’t know for what exactly. During that transaction, our victim was shot,” Miller said.

Miller said the friend who had come with the victim tried to aid him, but ended up fleeing the scene.

A BOLO was put out on a red vehicle. Deputies ended up spotting a vehicle which matched the description and a chase ensued. The person inside the vehicle eventually bailed out of the vehicle and a perimeter was set up as authorities searched for him.

The man ended up being located on Summer Mill Drive and was bitten by a K9 officer. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. Authorities are trying to determine his involvement.

“We suspect that he may have been a witness, however, we have not confirmed that, that’s still under investigation, we are going to try and talk to him to see what his involvement was but at this point we have not confirmed that he was the actual shooter,” Miller said.

Miller said they are looking for surveillance video and also any other witnesses who may have seen what happened.

“We still have a lot of unanswered questions and we are probably going to be out here a while trying to get those questions answered,” he said.
