PEARLAND, Texas – Can a rap beef be taken too far?
That’s the question many are asking on social media this week regarding the ongoing Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj feud.
And now, Houston area law enforcement officials have gotten involved.
According to the Pearland Police Department, the fuming altercation between these two rap icons has led some of Megan’s opposing fans to make threats to the gravesite where her mother was laid to rest.
Megan Thee Stallion, whose birth name is Megan Pete, was born in the Houston area. She lost her mother to brain cancer during her rise to fame back in 2019 and has publicly spoken about the trauma it has caused her during her career.
Social media users have been accusing Minaj fans, also known as ‘Barbz’, of using other tactics against Meg and her supporters such as mocking her about being shot, making threats of harm to fans, and doxxing.
According to the International Encyclopedia of Gender, Media, and Communication, “doxxing is the intentional revelation of a person’s private information online without their consent, often with malicious intent. This includes the sharing of phone numbers, home addresses, identification numbers and essentially any sensitive and previously private information such as personal photos that could make the victim identifiable and potentially exposed to further harassment, humiliation and real-life threats including stalking and unwanted encounters in person.”
Chad Rogers with Pearland PD said that he can confirm that extra patrol security checks are in place at the cemetery where Megan’s mom is buried because of the threats.
Rogers says he is not aware of anyone actually showing up to the gravesite after the threats began circulating on Jan. 28.
These two ladies have huge fan bases that have been going to blows online following the release of Megan Thee Stallion’s new song, ‘HISS’ which debuted last week.
Megan dropped a bar which the internet believed was about Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree back in April 1995 for an assault the previous year of a then-16-year-old girl.
As a response, Minaj began a rant on social media before dropping a track entitled ‘Big Foot’ which speaks about Megan being shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez and claims that Megan lied on her deceased mother.
