Tesla driver dead after crashing into Uber in downtown Houston

HOUSTON – A person who was behind the wheel of a Tesla is now dead after reportedly crashing into an Uber in downtown Houston Sunday night.

The deadly crash happened on Jefferson Street and La Branch around 11:30 p.m.

Police said that the driver of the Tesla rear-ended the Uber, which was stopped at a red light.

The Tesla was said to have been traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Tesla was later pronounced dead and a passenger was taken to the hospital. The passengers and driver who were inside the Uber were uninjured.

It is unclear at this time if the Tesla was in self-driving mode.
