2 charged for conspiring with detention officer accused of smuggling drugs into jail

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two people are facing drug charges for helping a Harris County detention officer who is accused of smuggling drugs into the Harris County Jail.

Toney Jones, 30, is an inmate who was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Ashley Sharpe, Jones’ 33-year-old girlfriend, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Jones appeared in court on Tuesday and his bond was set at $150,000. Sharpe is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

According to court documents, Jones and Sharpe worked with Detention Officer Robert Robertson. In November, Robertson was charged with engaging in organized crime.

Court documents state Jones received methoxy dimethyl oxobutane from Robertson and distributed it in the jail.

This year, the sheriff’s office launched an investigation due to an increase in drug overdoses in the jail.
