Search for escaped Brazoria Co. inmate continues after 2 arrests were made in connection to his disappearance

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is searching for an inmate who reportedly escaped from a prison in Brazoria County.

According to TDCJ, Robert Yancy Jr. was serving a life sentence without parole for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child out of Victoria County.

He was last seen at approximately 3:38 p.m. Sunday at the Clemens Unit in Brazoria, wearing a black beanie and a black sweater.

On Monday morning, deputies with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office stated that they had located the 2021 white Nissan Versa which Yancy was last seen in.

They also said that two other people have been arrested in connection to the inmate’s disappearance.

“Law Enforcement has located the 2021 Nissan Versa in Victoria County and have arrested two people in connection with Yancy’s escape. Citizens will continue to see an increased law enforcement and TDC presence in and around Brazoria, Tx today. We ask all citizens to stay aware of your surroundings and to report any suspicious persons and/or activity to law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office said.

If you see Yancy, do not approach him and contact your local law enforcement. If you have information on his whereabouts, you can also leave a tip with the Office of Inspector General at 1-800-832-8477.
