1 dead after semi-truck strikes vehicle, front end loader on IH-10 in Chambers County

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office said one person has died after a major crash on IH-10 Saturday.

The sheriff’s office said at approximately 1:20 pm, deputies and Texas DPS troopers responded to a major accident at the 806 mile marker eastbound on Interstate 10.

The preliminary information shows that a construction style front end loader was traveling eastbound on the Interstate 10 Trinity River Bridge being followed by another vehicle with its hazards on. As the front end loader was coming down the other side of the bridge at a slow rate of speed, a semi-truck traveling in the same direction struck the rear of the passenger vehicle and front end loader.

DPS confirmed the driver of the passenger vehicle which was following the front end loader succumbed to their injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing. IH-10 has since reopened.
