HOUSTON – The Houston Fire Department continues to battle a large mulch fire that is still burning in northwest Houston.
The fire began on Sunday and was located in the 5800 block of Crawford Road at the Living Earth mulch facility . Fire crews were called just after 2 p.m.
According to officials, the fire was originally on one mound of mulch but spread to engulf others.
Since Sunday, crews were being rotated out so firefighters would not overheat while working throughout the night.
The fire department said there is currently no danger to the community at this time.
No firefighters or civilians have been reported injured.
Air quality in the area continues to be monitored.
