Man in critical condition after being shot during carjacking in SE Houston, police say

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a man was shot before his car was stolen at a store in southeast Houston Wednesday, officers with the Houston Police Department said.

HPD officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 5 Star Food Store located at 7302 Hurtgen Forest Rd. around 9:32 a.m.

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they located a man with a gunshot wound to the neck area. The man was transported by ambulance and is in critical but stable condition, HPD said.

According to investigators, surveillance video showed the victim pull up in a pickup truck. He went into the corner store and came out. He was then seen walking away from his truck as his truck went into reverse and left the area, police said. He then fell in the parking lot.

Police said there were no witnesses that were physically there at the time of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
