Police searching for driver who caused deadly hit-and-run crash on Katy Freeway last month

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department and Crime Stoppers need the public’s help finding the person responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash on the Katy Freeway.

On Monday, Sept. 19, at 2:19 a.m., officers responded to reports of a crash in the 6000 block of Katy Freeway.

Officers said Bobbie Joseph Alan Payne was traveling westbound when he was hit by an unknown person’s vehicle. The impact of the crash allegedly caused Payne to crash into another vehicle, which caused major damage.

Investigators said the suspect fled the scene without rendering aid to Payne.

Payne, who was severely injured, died as a result of the crash, according to officials.
