Hispanic Heritage Month: Brothers keep father’s legacy alive at Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant & Taqueria

HOUSTON – Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant & Taqueria is a family-owned and operated restaurant in the Lake Houston area with a goal of treating everyone like family.

An immigrant’s dream turned into a reality, Ramon Reyes came to the U.S. from Mexico as a teen and built the thriving eatery from the ground up.

As the restaurant grew, so did its staff. Reyes’ two sons joined the business before they reached middle school.

They thrived when times were good, expanding to new locations, and persevered when times were tough.

From the kitchen to the dining room, and to helping their community when it is in need, the Reyes brothers are fulfilling their promise to their father, who died months ago from COVID-19. The brothers said their mother passed away five years ago from cancer.

As for what the future holds? This family said they will keep sharing traditions from their father’s recipes to his love for the community for years to come.
