Woman shot while riding bicycle in Galveston County, deputies say

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Galveston police are searching for the person who allegedly shot a bicyclist early Friday.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4:02 a.m. to a shooting in the 4400 block of 5th Street in Bacliff, Texas.

They arrived to find a woman lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to her left leg.

The victim told deputies she and her husband were riding their bicycles when a dark-colored sedan passed them, driving north on 5th Street.

The woman heard a gunshot, then felt a burning sensation on her calf and realized she had been shot in the leg.

The victim’s husband identified the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored Pontiac sedan with a spoiler on the trunk.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information the public may have in reference to this shooting.
