HOUSTON – Anime fans, the hype doesn’t stop here. This year’s Anime Houston is back and it’s bigger and better.

Entering its second year, the convention will double in size and will take place at the Hyatt Regency Houston near downtown. It was held at the Hyatt Houston Houston Intercontinental Airport in north Houston during its first year.

John Swasey, chairman of both Anime Houston and its sister convention, Anime Dallas, said on the website’s “About Me” section that both events last year have been a “roaring” success, and expects the 2022 event to be even better.

Swasey is also a voice actor based in Houston, who voiced iconic characters such as Lord Death from “Soul Eater” and Van Hohenheim in “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.”

“Hosting these anime conventions, for me has always been about giving my fellow actor friends a chance to meet fans like you in the area,” he wrote on his About Me page. “And also we raise money for some amazing charities. And like Dallas, Houston has an abundance of incredibly talented VA’s. And they are always excited to meet you… the fans.”

Tickets are just $30 for the whole weekend. Kids under 6 are free with paid weekend admission.

On Sunday, August 14, kids under 12 enter FREE with paid Sunday general admission of $10.
