Deputies searching for suspect accused of hitting, killing teen while he was running from dogs in west Harris County

HOUSTON – Harris County sheriff’s deputies are still searching for a suspect accused of killing a teen during a hit-and-run incident in west Harris County on Tuesday, July 19.

According to HCSO, Omar Fathallah Mohammed Fathalla Ghatas, 16, was struck by a vehicle in the 14100 block of Alief Clodine Road around 10:45 p.m.

During the incident, the teen was walking from a bus stop when stray dogs began chasing him. In an attempt to get away, deputies said the victim began running westbound in the eastbound lanes of Aldine Clodine Road. He was struck by a suspect in an unknown vehicle, investigators said. The suspect reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid. Ghatas died from his injuries.
