Charges filed against man accused of shooting, killing mother of his newborn at apartment near NRG Park

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a man accused of shooting and killing the mother of his 3-week-old baby, then taking the newborn with him to Austin, where he turned himself in.

On Monday, Ochoa drove to the Cedar Park Police Department Headquarters and reported that he had shot and killed his girlfriend at their apartment in Houston, police said.

Patrol officers with the Houston Police Department were dispatched around 7:40 a.m. to the couple’s home at 8181 El Mundo Street, where they found the 32-year-old victim’s body.

The woman had been shot in the head, police said. The motive for the shooting was unknown.

Ochoa will remain in custody in Cedar Park, a suburb of Austin, until he is transferred back to Houston.
