HPD: Driver ditches vehicle, flees after fatally striking man walking in southeast Houston

Houston police are investigating after a driver fled the scene following an auto-pedestrian crash (KPRC)

HOUSTON – Police are searching for the suspect who fled after fatally striking a man who was walking in southeast Houston early Sunday.

According to HPD, a man was walking in the 10100 block of Telephone Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored Honda CRV.

Police said the Honda driver was speeding, and kept going without stopping to render aid to the victim.

The driver ditched the vehicle a few blocks away.

Police have seized the vehicle and are searching it for any evidence that could lead to the identity of the driver.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released. He is believed to be in his 20s.
