Police said another driver sustained injuries and may have been under the influence.

HOUSTON – An officer with the Houston Police Department and two wrecker drivers were hit after responding to two crashes in the Galleria area Friday, according to HPD.

It happened in the 4900 block of Hidalgo around 3 a.m.

According to investigators, there were three crashes. Police said a Honda Accord hit a wall around 2 a.m. near Hidalgo and Post Oak Boulevard. A Jeep then crashed into that scene. A third vehicle, another Honda, came along and crashed into the responding officer and wrecker, police said. The vehicle that hit the officer and wrecker lost control coming off southbound 610 at the Richmond exit and struck them, HPD said.

Police said one officer was transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries. KPRC 2′s Zach Lashway said the driver of the Jeep was also transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and, according to HPD, that person may have been under the influence.

The two wrecker drivers sustained minor injuries but were not transported to the hospital.
