Check your fridge: These ham, pepperoni products were recalled due to possible listeria contamination

More than 230,000 pounds of Alexander & Hornung brand fully cooked ham and pepperoni products have been recalled over listeria concerns.

According to an announcement made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the pork products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the FSIS, “Consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons outside these risk groups are affected.”

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. M10125″ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The FSIS urges consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them.

The FSIS directs consumers to throw away the recalled products or return the products at the place of purchase.
