Have you seen her? Police searching for mother of 3 missing for several days

HOUSTON – Police are searching for answers in the disappearance of a mother of three who has been missing since Sunday morning.

Investigators said 40-year-old Erica Hernandez was last seen near Highway 288 and the Beltway driving a black GMC Acadia.

“The fact that her children need a mother, that’s what worries me the most,” said Hernandez’s sister Ashley.

Family members said Hernandez had been at a friend’s house Saturday evening. Hernandez left to drop off her car back at home so her daughter could take it to work at 5 a.m. Sunday.

According to the family, Hernandez’s friend texted her to see if she had made it home and Hernandez told her she was five minutes away, but she never made it. No one has heard from her since.

Hernandez’s family believes something may have happened to her because she is not likely to have left her 19-year-old daughter without a vehicle to take to work.

Hernandez’s daughter, Briza Armenta, said she is just trying to be strong for her siblings.

“I just feel like I have to be strong and be there for my brothers (ages 15 and 3), you know,” Armenta said. “We are doing everything we can to look for her. That’s all I have to say.”

Family members said phone records show a call was made from Hernandez’s cell phone at 2:50 a.m. to a number they did not recognize.

The family said the police were given all of the information and they are investigating. The family said they are concerned because it has been multiple days since Hernandez’s disappearance and they don’t think the police have done enough to track her movements to find her.

Hernandez was last seen wearing a teal V-neck T-shirt, jeans, and teal/black tennis shoes. She has waist-length, dark brown hair with highlights, a nose piercing on the right side. She wears glasses and has three koala bears tattooed on her left shoulder blade.

Erica was driving a black, 2020 GMC Acadia with Texas license plates MKJ-3303.

“There is an Aggie mom sticker on the back of the vehicle, it has a white outline and is transparent in the middle,” said Texas EquuSearch Volunteer Angelina Farris.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Houston Police Department at (832) 394-1840 or call Texas EquuSearch at (281) 309-9500.

Texas EquuSearch has searched the area where Hernandez was last seen with no results so far.
