Nearly 50 people arrested Friday during Jeep Weekend on Bolivar Peninsula

BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas – It’s a big weekend on Bolivar Peninsula: Jeep Weekend.

Jeep Weekend has been a decadeslong tradition on the Peninsula. The event brings thousands to the beach with many bringing their jeeps to enjoy the weather and water.

Law enforcement usually picks up its presence to handle the influx of people to the area.

On Friday, 48 people were arrested on the Bolivar Peninsula, according to Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trouchesset.

Last year, the Jeep Weekend ended with more than 600 calls for service and 305 people booked into the Galveston County Jail, with 120 of those arrests coming from the Bolivar Peninsula alone, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officials are asking for people to keep their cool if they decide to come out.
