Truck plows into apartment building near Beltway 8 in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police responded to a southwest Houston apartment complex near Beltway 8, where a pickup truck slammed into an apartment building Monday evening.

The wreck was first reported at about 5:05 p.m. at the Reserve at Westwood apartment complex located at the 9800 block of West Sam Houston Parkway, according to the Houston Police Department.

Authorities said the driver of the truck was on the Beltway and involved in a crash, causing him to lose control, come off the freeway, cross the feeder and crash into the apartment complex.

Harris County Precinct 5 Constables said luckily no one was home at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
