HPD: Employee shot in face during robbery in SW Houston

HOUSTON – An employee was shot in the face during a robbery in southwest Houston Tuesday afternoon.

Police said two suspects walked into the Artemis Pharmacy in the 9600 block of Courtglen just before 12:45 p.m. and held up the business. They forced one of the workers to take them in the back where all the drugs are kept.

One of the suspects opened fire at an employee.

"One suspect fired several shots at her. She was injured, currently her condition is unknown. She is at the hospital and I have officers over there talking to her," Officer Carmona, with the Houston Police Department.

The men got away with Xanax pills and a few hundred dollars in cash. The worker who wasn't hurt ran next door to a day care center for help.

"She was crying and screaming for us to help her. We called 911 and ran over to check on the other lady because she was shot," said Blanca Carrillo, who works at the day care.

Carrillo said they didn't hear or see anything, but the crime is not something they want to deal with in this neighborhood.

"It's scary. We have more than 50 kids here. It's scary to think someone could come here and do the same thing with all these kids here," she said.

The victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.
