HOUSTON – A head-on collision sent three people to Houston-area hospitals Saturday.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hempstead and Bingle roads in northwest Houston, police said.

The crash involved a GMC Yukon and a Chevrolet Silverado, police said.
The Silverado is considered the at-fault driver, though police said they are working to learn exactly what caused the crash.
After the crash, police said the woman in the Silverado had to be extracted from her vehicle and she suffered a fractured leg. The two women in the GMC Yukon also had to be extracted from the vehicle and one of those women also had a fractured leg, police said.
The report initially indicated that four cars were involved, but, two of those cars were not damaged and the drivers were not injured. Those two vehicles were permitted to leave the scene when police arrived, officials said.
