Guns, ammo, tactical vests found after man leads police on chase, officials say

TEXAS CITY, Texas - A 38-year-old man was arrested Monday after he threatened police and led them on a chase in La Marque, according to authorities.

When Shane Aaron Bedard, of Texas City, was taken into custody, police said they found a cache of weapons, including several rifles, boxes of ammunition, bulletproof vests and other weapons.

Texas City police had been searching for Bedard after he made threats against police, authorities said.

On Monday, Bedard was found in a Nissan sedan on I-45 South at Vauthier Street, according to police.

Police said Bedard led officers on a short chase around 6:45 p.m. The chase ended in a neighborhood on Clover Bend Street, and Bedard was taken into custody.

He is charged on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked on a $40,000 bond. He will likely be charged with other crimes, police said.
