Formerly conjoined twin discharged from Texas Children's Hospital; sister recovering

HOUSTON- – One of the two sisters who started their lives joined together has reached a milestone.

Anna Grace Richards was discharged from Texas Children's Hospital after she and her sister, Elizabeth Richards, underwent a successful major surgery to separate them.

The Richards were successfully separated during a seven-hour surgery at Texas Children's Hospital on Jan. 13.

The girls were born on Dec. 29, 2016, and had been sharing a liver, diaphragm and part of a heart. 

On March 2, Anna was discharged after spending 428 days in the hospital. 

The Richards family will remain in Houston until Anna's sister, Hope, is able to go home.
