Family of man who they say was shot by security guard during T-Mobile theft demands more charges

HOUSTON – A call for more charges against a security guard linked to a shooting outside of a north Houston T-Mobile store have been made by the family of the man who was shot.

Christopher Bradley, the security guard, has already been charged in connection with the shooting, in which 18-year-old Earnest Hudson and a 6-year-old girl were wounded.

Cora Washington, Hudson’s mother, and community activist Quanell X are demanding Bradley to be charged with attempted murder for shooting Hudson, who they say was unarmed and did not steal a cellphone from the store.

“It’s just messed up my son had to be gunned down by a security officer for no reason by a guard who wasn't in uniform,” Washington said.

Washington and Quanell X are questioning why it’s taking Houston Police so long to move their case forward. Washington says her son is fighting for his life in Ben Taub Hospital after being shot six times after being accused of stealing a cellphone on Monday. He’s had multiple surgeries and Washington said her son has not been charged with stealing the cellphone.

Police said Bradley, a security officer not in uniform, confronted Hudson outside the store after he set off an alarm and that Bradley shot him as he ran away.

“Who do you think you are, man, to where you stand over the kid when it was not necessary. Nobody's life was in danger,” Quanell X said.

Quanell X said police told him the investigation remains open. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo told KPRC it will be up to the Harris County District Attorney to file additional charges against Bradley based on the information and evidence given to prosecutors by the police.
