Customers hold vigil for store clerk killed during attempt robbery in NW Houston

HOUSTON – Family, friends and customers of a convenience store clerk who was shot and killed Saturday in northwest Houston came together to mourn.

Police have released surveillance photos of two men they suspect killed 48-year-old Faruk Bhuiya during an attempted robbery at a Metro Food Mart in the 1000 block of Witte Road at 8:25 p.m. Saturday.

The two men police are seeking are described as wearing red and dark blue hoodies.

Several of Bhuiya’s customers attended his candlelight vigil in front of Food Metro Market where he was shot and killed Saturday night during an attempted robbery. 

Bhuiya's wife told KPRC 2 that her husband was loved by anyone he came across. On Sunday, strangers who barely knew Bhuiya came out to honor his memory.

“He was always friendly. I usually come up here with my middle child and he was always so nice and friendly with her," said one of Bhuiya’s former customers.

Bhuiya’s family is in the process of raising funds to help pay for his funeral expenses.
