Father in custody, child unharmed after Amber Alert issued for Galena Park boy

GALENA PARK, Texas – The man accused of taking his 22-month-old son and assaulting the boy's mother is in custody Wednesday morning, officials said.

An Amber Alert was issued for 22-month-old Jesus Ludena Tuesday after he was taken in Galena Park. Investigators said the boy's mother was staying with friends in Galena Park when the boy's father, Alejandro Sebastian Ludena, 25, showed up and assaulted the mother. After the assault, police said Ludena took off with his son.

"He hit with his fists like five times," Juana Hoy, the boy's mother, told Channel 2. "I was on the floor. I couldn't get up. And then the police arrived in an ambulance and they took me to the hospital."

Hours later, a tip was received by the Harris County Sheriff's Office that Ludena and his son were at a hotel off FM 1960. Deputies arrived and found them both there. The boy was unharmed and Ludena was taken into custody. Galena Park police said Ludena is cooperating.

Hoy was reunited with her son just before midnight. She told Channel 2 she was happy to see her son. "I just care about my baby."

Ludena is in custody of the Galena Park Police Department.
