29 tornadoes confirmed in Houston region during Hurricane Harvey, NWS says

HOUSTON – The National Weather Service has confirmed 29 tornadoes during Harvey.

Aug. 25 at 2:18 p.m.: A waterspout was seen from east Galveston.

Aug. 25 at 2:23 p.m.: The public reported seeing a funnel cloud and a metal fence was damaged near Ferry Road in Galveston. The NWS said this was an EF-0 tornado.

Aug. 25 at 3:25 p.m.: About an hour later, in Brazoria County, a very brief EF-0 tornado touched down near County Rd. 301 and Hwy. 36 in Jones Creek. A number of trees were blown over and a barn was damaged.

Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m.: Five minutes later, a shed and a fence were damaged by a tornado reported in Sargent.

Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m.: A brief EF-0 tornado crossed Hwy. 36 in Brazoria County. One power line was knocked down and several trees were knocked down.

Aug. 25 at 3:47 p.m.: A EF-0 tornado damaged a McDonald's restaurant sign at Seawall Boulevard and Broadway Avenue. There was also reported damage to awnings at an apartment complex.

Aug. 25 at 4:14 p.m.: A brief, yet strong, EF-1 tornado moved onshore in Sargent, causing significant damage to one home as well as overturning a motor home. A number of trees were snapped and/or downed along the path as well as minor roof damage to several homes and businesses.

Aug. 25 at 6:09 p.m.: A high-end EF-0 tornado touched down just east of West Columbia, damaging numerous trees, roofs and buildings in a neighborhood near Hwy. 35 and River Road. A barn and several outbuildings were also destroyed on the east side of the Brazos River.

Aug. 25 at 9:44 p.m.: An EF-0 tornado began in Danbury and damaged a barn along with several trees near County Road 207. The tornado crossed Hwy. 35 and moved over an open field. The tornado then snapped and/or downed several trees along County Rd. 45 before lifting at the crocodile encounter on County Rd. 48.

Aug. 25 at 9:53 p.m.: Brazoria County law enforcement reported a funnel cloud near Oyster Creek.

Aug. 25 at 11:28 p.m.: An EF-0 tornado took down four power poles on Hwy. 35 along with several trees near the Gulf Coast Speedway. The tornado went across an open field before damaging barns, outbuildings and trees on County Rd. 511.

Aug. 26 at 12:52 a.m.: A strong EF-0 tornado struck a fairly new subdivision along County Rd. 56 and Hwy. 288, 2 miles west of Iowa Colony. Damage was mostly confined to roofs and fences. Several trees were snapped and/or downed.

Aug. 26 at 12:52 a.m.: Radar confirmed tornado near Juliff.

Aug. 26 at 1 a.m.: An EF-1 tornado damaged homes on Vieux Carre, in Sienna Plantation. Minor injuries were reported. A responding deputy was blown off the road.

Aug. 26 at 2:10 a.m.: An EF-0 tornado caused damage in Lost Creek subdivision near Pecan Grove, in Fort Bend County.

Aug. 26 at 2:16 a.m.: An EF-0 tornado damage signature was seen by law enforcement authorities just west of Glen Flora, in Wharton County.

Aug. 26 at 2:27 a.m.: A tornado caused roof damage to a home near Westpark Tollway and the Grand Parkway.

Aug. 26 at 4:30 a.m.: The media reported a tornado touchdown caused roof, tree and fence damage in the Lakeshore subdivision, in northeast Harris County.

Aug. 26 at 4:30 a.m.: The public reported an EF-0 tornado near the southern portion of Lake Houston between the Lakeshore and Summerwood subdivisions.

Aug. 26 at 4:57 a.m.: An EF-1 tornado caused significant damage to a recreational vehicle, boat and storage facility near Katy. The damage path extended across I-10 to the Pepperl+Fuchs facility. The NWS estimated the tornado was on the ground from 4:57 a.m. to 5:05 a.m.

Aug. 26 at 8:05 a.m.: Tree damage was reported from an EF-0 tornado near Olympia Buddy Road in College Station.

Aug. 26 at 3:52 p.m.: An EF-1 tornado caused trees to be blown over and minor roof damage was reported near Barker Cypress Road and Tuckerton Road near Jersey Village.

Aug. 26 at 4:10 p.m.: Another EF-0 tornado, confirmed by law enforcement, was on the ground in the vicinity of Hwy. 290 and Barker Cypress Road.

Aug. 26 at 5:23 p.m.: An EF-0 tornado caused a path of trees to be knocked down on a southeast to northwest path near East Bernard. A home was damaged and a horse trailer was overturned.

Aug. 26 at 8:15 p.m.: An EF-1 tornado caused damage to 28 homes in the Woodland West subdivision near Stafford. The damage path extended into Missouri City. High-end EF-1 damage was reported in spots. The tornado was on the ground for an estimated 15 minutes.

Aug. 27 at 12 a.m.: An NWS employee reported the awning on a gas station was ripped and flipped over and a funnel cloud was seen near Webster.

Aug. 27 at 12:05 a.m.: The public reported seeing a funnel cloud near Hwy. 3 in Webster. The funnel cloud was seen from near the NASA Bypass.

Aug. 27 at 1:42 a.m.: An EF-1 tornado began as a weak EF-0 in downtown East Bernard and then traveled northwest across Alt. Hwy. 90 where it strengthened to an EF-1, snapping several large mature oak and pecan trees. A house suffered significant brick facade damage to one side of the home. Several trees were downed and/or snapped along the path. Four apartments were damaged on College Street.

Aug. 27 at 4:05 a.m.: An EF-0 tornado caused a short damage path near Bacliff. Trees were down and minor damge to roofs were reported.

Aug. 27 at 10:15 a.m.: The public reported an EF-0 tornado caused windows to be blown out at the Torchy's Tacos and Banana Republic in Rice Village.

Aug. 27 at 11:27 a.m.: An EF-0 tornado downed a tree in Eastwood, near the meat market. It also put a tree through a roof in the Fifth Ward.

Aug. 27 at 12:13 p.m.: An EF-0 tornado was spotted by a deputy near FM 442 and FM 360 near Needville.
