HOUSTON – A robber was shot and killed Tuesday by the man he was trying to rob, according to police.

The shooting was reported about 2:50 p.m. at a home in the 5800 block of Ludington Drive near Hillcroft Avenue.

According to Houston police, a man was working on his car in the garage of the home when someone with a gun walked up to him and tried to rob him. The man told police that he wrestled the gun away from the person trying to rob him and fired, wounding the robber. The robber was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Homicide investigators are at the scene.

Police said the evidence collected during the investigation will be forwarded to the district attorney to see if any charges should be filed.
