1 killed, 1 arrested in liquor store robbery-turned-shootout

HOUSTON – One person was killed Wednesday and another was arrested after a liquor store robbery that turned into a shootout in southeast Houston.

The incident was reported about 8:50 p.m. at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Reed Road.

Houston police said two men walked into the store and tried to rob it. One of the men fired at employees and one of the employees returned fire, hitting one of the robbers. 

The wounded man fled the scene and was found dead on a nearby street, police said. 

Akeivyon McMillan, 17, was later arrested in Baytown and charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Store employees were not injured.
