2 killed in crash that closed East Beltway for hours

HOUSTON – Two people were killed in a crash that closed a major Houston tollway for several hours Friday night.

The crash was reported at 4:23 p.m. on the northbound side of East Beltway 8 at Wallisville Road.

Harris County deputies said a pickup sideswiped another pickup, sending the second truck into a concrete median wall. The passenger of the second pickup was thrown from the vehicle, deputies said.

Both the driver and passenger of the second pickup were killed in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
