Men charged in northeast Houston drive-by shooting that left 2 in critical condition


HOUSTON – Two men were charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that left two others severely injured Friday in northeast Houston, police said.

The double shooting was reported at 10:45 p.m. on Homestead Road and Hartwick Street.

Nicolas Villarreal, 22, and Nihad Nassim El-Meaary, 19, were charged with two counts each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to Houston police, an argument began inside a bar and spilled out into the parking lot. One group of males got into a white BMW and started to leave when one of the occupants in the car started shooting at the other group that was involved in the argument. 

A male and female were shot. 

Police said both were hospitalized in critical condition.

Villarreal and El-Meaary were both located six miles away from the shooting scene during a traffic stop, police said. An AR-15 was recovered from the BMW and was determined to be stolen.

Both were arrested.
