Capt. Larry Baimbridge, of the Houston Police Department, said the officers were trying to arrest the man on a felony warrant in connection with a choking incident involving his wife.

Baimbridge said the man refused to come out when police arrived, and SWAT officers and negotiators were called in. The negotiators talked the man into surrendering, he said.

No injuries were reported.
