SEABROOK, Texas – The body of a woman who was reported missing by her family was found Tuesday at Clear Lake Park, according to deputies.
The woman has been identified by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office as Ashley George. Authorities said she died of "multiple sharp force injuries of head, neck and chest."
Harris County deputies said that during a patrol of the park about 4 a.m., they found a vehicle in the parking lot. No one was inside, and it appeared someone had rifled through the vehicle, deputies said.
Deputies said the owners of the vehicle said their 26-year-old daughter was the last person to drive the vehicle. Deputies said the parents then filed a missing person report for their daughter.
When the sun came up, the woman’s body was found next to the water, deputies said.
Bicyclist Janie Wild said that she took a different route when she saw the crime scene tape this morning.
“It’s very upsetting because you don’t see anything like that here," Wild said. “It is tragic and I will keep her and her family in my prayers."
Thomas Gilliland, with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, said that they will review evidence and check for surveillance video in the area.
“Homicide has got to start now to find out from point A to point B how she ended up here," Gilliland said.
