Suspect charged after man found dead in Alvin restaurant, police say

ALVIN, Texas – A suspect has been charged after police said a man was found dead Sunday morning inside an Alvin restaurant.

Gorge Luis Olmos, 20, has been charged with aggravated assault in the death of 47-year-old Javier M. Lopez.

Police received a call for help around 7 a.m. Sunday at Emily's Mexican restaurant in the 2300 block of West State Highway 6. When officers arrived, police said they found Lopez dead.

The victim's son told police that Lopez and Olmos had been at the restaurant for two hours and an altercation had ensued. Police said the son found his father dead, and said Olmos was kicking holes in the walls before he ran away.

Officers found Olmos hiding in the backyard of a residence near the area. He was arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
