IKEA to hire 200 for new Baytown warehouse

BAYTOWN, Texas – IKEA will hire about 200 people to staff its new warehouse in Baytown, company officials announced Tuesday.

Officials with the Swedish furniture retailer said it had secured the lease of two buildings in the Cedar Port Industrial Park, totaling 1 million square feet. The industrial park sits directly across from the Bayport and Barbours Cut Container Terminals and adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel. The facility will support the efficient and timely delivery and shipment of products.

“Our goal is to increase accessibility to the IKEA product selection, and these two fulfillment centers will help us meet the home furnishing needs of many American customers,” IKEA U.S. President Lars Peterson said.

Company officials also announced the lease of another warehouse facility in California, which will also employ about 200 people.

The Baytown facility became operational earlier this year, company officials said.
