2 men accused of selling fake World Series tickets in Houston

HOUSTON – A Chicago man and a man from Atlanta have been arrested in separate cases, but both are accused of selling counterfeit World Series tickets.

Rontez Newman, 34, is from Chicago and he's charged with trademark counterfeiting. 

According to Houston police, the victim found Newman through Craigslist and met him at a Walgreens store on Smith Street in Houston. The victim said when he tried to enter Minute Maid Park for Game 5 on Sunday, he was told his tickets were counterfeit.

Police said they later found Newman near Minute Maid Park with several counterfeit tickets in his possession.

Newman was being held in the Harris County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Terrell Favors, 31, is from Atlanta, and he's also charged with trademark counterfeiting.

Police said that Favors tried to sell four tickets to Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday. Those tickets were identified by a counterfeit mark, police said.

He's being held in the Harris County Jail on a $10,000 bond. His next court date is Dec. 6.
