DILLEY, Texas – Two people were injured in an explosion Tuesday at an oil field in La Salle County in southern Texas, according to multiple media reports.

According to WOAI-TV, reports of the explosion came in about 11 a.m. at the Ludwig Ranch near Dilley, about 70 miles southwest of San Antonio.

KSAT-TV reported that the crews are still trying to determine what caused the blast and subsequent fire at the oil tank battery being operated by Carrizo Oil and Gas.

The injured were flown to a San Antonio hospital to be treated, according to KSAT-TV. The extent of their injuries was not immediately reported.

Pictures of the scene showed a large plume of black smoke in the area.

KSAT-TV reported that fire crews established a quarter-mile perimeter to keep people away from the tanks while they wait for the fire to die down.
