Crime Stoppers tips lead police to couple accused of robbing Target

Police say pair pulled a gun when confronted about stealing

SAN ANTONIO – Police say they got away at gunpoint a month ago, but now a couple is now facing charges for robbing a southwest side Target.

Keelan Jones and Kirsten Aune each face a single charge of aggravated robbery from Aug. 21 where they allegedly pulled a gun on Target employees after being confronted about stealing.

Police said they were caught on surveillance footage and tips following a Crime Stoppers story led investigators to the pair.

According to the arrest documents, two loss prevention specialists at Target stopped Jones and Aune as they were leaving the store in the 2800 block of SW Military Drive.

The couple had been under surveillance after Jones was seen possibly stealing some merchandise.

Jones tried get away and the employees tried to hold onto him to detain him in the security office, according to the documents.

However, police say Jones was able to get a gun from around his waist and hand it to Aune.

She reportedly pointed it at the employees and told them to let Jones go, while he told her to "show them what's up, babe."

Though they got away, police say the pair were caught on surveillance footage, which KSAT ran earlier this month as part of a Crime Stoppers story. Police say they got information naming Jones and Aune as the man and woman from the images.

The two Target employees picked Jones out of a photo lineup, and police say Aune confessed after she was arrested Saturday on an old municipal court warrant.

Both Aune and Jones remain in the Bexar County Jail, booked on $100,000 bonds.
