Lockdown at Covestro facility in Baytown lifted

BAYTOWN, Texas – A lockdown on Friday at the Covestro plant in Baytown that was prompted by the discovery of several suspicious packages after a bomb threat was lifted, officials said.

Jennifer Walsh, head of communications for Covestro, said the packages were examined by the Bay Area Bomb Squad and were determined to not be a threat.

Walsh said that traffic to the facility has resumed.

The Coast Guard, FBI, TSA and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident, Walsh said.

Walsh said earlier that non-essential personnel were sent home after the threat was received.
