Cyclist struck, killed by vehicle on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON – A bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in southwest Houston.

The incident was reported at 6 a.m. in the 6900 block of Southwest Freeway.

Police said the man on the bicycle rode onto the freeway and attempted to cross it when he was hit by a white Dodge Caravan.

Police said several other vehicles also struck the victim.

Houston police said the cyclist was killed.

Police said the driver of the Dodge stopped and called police. That driver was treated for minor injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
