'I'm home': Beyonce visits her church to speak with Harvey victims in Houston

HOUSTON – Beyonce has returned to her hometown to visit Harvey victims at her church in downtown.

She made an appearance at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Friday afternoon with her mother and daughter.

They were greeted with cheers and screams.

Beyonce spoke to the crowd and gave encouragement to her fellow Houstonians:

“I just want to say that I’m home and the church is my home. I was maybe 9 or 10 years old the first time I sat there where my daughter is sitting and sung my first solo here.

“And I just want to thank you for lifting my family up, for praying for me and being such an incredible example of what light and love is.

“And today is a celebration of survival. Y'all are my family, Houston is my home and I thank God that y'all are safe and your children are safe. I just want to say that I love you. I’m so, so thankful to God that I am blessed so I can bless other people. And I ask you guys to continue to do that for other people."

Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, also spoke to the congregation and reminded people who have lost everything that they will get through this time of trouble.
