Community comes together after Wharton area hit hard by flooding

People flooded out of homes volunteer their time

WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – Folks in Wharton County were hit hard by the flooding. Things were so bad in some spots that police had to evacuate many of the residents.

Anna Luna said her family isn't sure where they will sleep Saturday night after homes and businesses along the Colorado River in Wharton were covered in water.

Emilio Cantu lives near McAllen and said after a call out on Facebook, donations poured in to fill a semitruck with supplies. Headed towards Houston, he said they were stopped by community members in Wharton, asking for his help.

The supplies go a long way. People who've lost everything are thankful for the delivery.

The community of Wharton are coming together. People flooded out of their homes are volunteering their time, making sure all of their neighbors are taken care of.
