Man killed in three-vehicle crash caused by woman who ran red light, police say

HOUSTON – A 54-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle accident in southeast Houston on Sunday.

The man's identity is pending verification by authorities.

The driver of a black Nissan Altima was northbound on Scott Street when she ran a red light at the intersection of Almeda Genoa Road, according to police.

The Nissan struck a white Ford F-350 truck that was eastbound on Almeda Genoa, according to police.

The driver of the Ford had a green light, police said.

After being struck, the Ford struck a third vehicle, a red Dodge Dart being driven by the victim, according to police.

The driver and two juveniles in the Nissan were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was not seriously injured, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was examined by police and displayed no obvious signs of intoxication, police said.

No charges have been filed in this incident, pending further investigation, police said.
