Co-founder of Mai's Restaurant dies at 88

HOUSTON – The Co-founder of Mai’s Restaurant, Phin Nguyen, died Friday at 88 years old.

Members of Nguyen's family announced the news on Facebook and stated the restaurant will be closed from Thursday through Saturday for the celebration of her life and legacy.

Nguyen’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church, Nguyen’s granddaughter, Anna Pham told KPRC2.

Pham said the family thanks the community for the overwhelming support and love the company has received during this time. She said the funeral is open to the public.

 The restaurant will reopen and continue regular business hours on Sunday.

“Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. We thank you for your understanding as we pay our respects and mourn for our loss during this time of grievance,” Mai’s Restaurant posted on Facebook.
