Suspect charged in deadly 2016 shooting Ronald Craig Jones, 36, charged in killing of Joel Cruz, 19

HOUSTON – Investigators have charged a man in connection with a murder that dates back to October of last year.
Ronald Craig Jones, 36, is charged with murder in the death of Joel Cruz, 19. Police found Cruz lying in the street on McNeil Street in North Houston on the night of October 12, 2016.
Police say Cruz and a woman drove to the location where he was found to purchase narcotics. During the transaction, an altercation broke out between the woman Cruz was with and another woman, investigators said. That's when a male narcotics dealer shot and killed Cruz.
Jones was already being held in the Harris County Jail on a previous charge.
