KATY, Texas – A heads-up for Katy residents, or anyone driving through Katy when school is back in session.
New parking restrictions make it a misdemeanor to park near Katy High School throughout the school year.

This comes after concerns from residents about traffic and the safety of students crossing the road.
The city passed an ordinance that could cost a driver a $200 fine, should they park in any of the designated areas during school hours on a school day.
The city of Katy released a map highlighting the areas in which parking is not allowed during the school year.
