No description found

HOUSTON – Part of Highway 290 was closed Saturday after a 4-vehicle pileup that started as a minor accident.

Officials said a witness and his wife were driving along Highway 290 when they felt like someone was about to hit them so they pulled to the side, but sideswiped by a black SUV.

The couple crashed into a wall and a chain reaction followed, according to police.

"As we walked over to see the gentleman, he got out of the car, he went behind his car and then he was struck by another vehicle after that we noticed two or three other cars smack into each other and a couple of motorcycles in the accident," Timothy Hernandez said.

Officials said three people were taken to a hospital. One person had to be airlifted to Memorial Hermann in an unknown condition.

Harris County Sheriff's officials said two people are expected to be charged with a DWI.
